Beyond Reasonable Doubt

IDMaaS

The software industry has long offered business functionality as a Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery model that earns revenues from annual subscriptions – as long as the business processes are standard e.g. accounting, where the rules are a common standard. In contrast, the nascent e-Identity industry has largely emerged as a patchwork of proprietary point-solutions, with supporting arbitrary bespoke business processes, addressing specific problems rather than an overall common solution that would succeed at internet-scale. Understandably, this reality would not lend itself to a commercially viable Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery model.

It has also been a convention that any arbitrary Identity business process e.g. KYC, evolved as a necessary support to a higher business objective to provide banking services, as an example. In other words, an Identity business process was not of itself a standalone business objective of value – more a necessary to do to enable a superior objective.

What has changed is that there is now a standard set of rules for processing our Identity data (Personal Professional Identity Data – PPID). We now have strict data protection laws and regulations – a common, standard set of rules.

For the first time, it is viable to deliver Identity Management as a Software as a Service (SaaS) business model – a utility that has a new elevated value of it’s own. We believe that Objectsoft were the first to coin the term IDMaaS (Identity Management as a Service) and that this is the most credible approach to achieving assured identity that can be relied upon at internet-scale.
